Combined heat and power - City centre sustainability
The main project helping Birmingham City Council meet its target to cut carbon emissions by a quarter is a combined heat and power system.
It distributes waste heat to a network serving the main buildings in the city centre.
The system is set to cut emissions by 17,000 tonnes of carbon a year and cut energy costs by 5%.
