




Care for patients is being improved by the application of lean management principles to healthcare as part of a partnership project between Warwick University and Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham.
Lean means cutting out steps or processes that do not add value to patient care.
Accident and emergency consultant Prof Matthew Cooke says the approach will improve timeliness, quality and cost of care in the NHS.
