Laser technology, being used at Warwick University, can measure and map every contour of a car body or part to the finest detail.
The technology is particularly useful in replacing the bodies of classic cars, where no designs exist so the parts can only be reproduced by copying the original by hand.
The team at Warwick try out the laser on a 1928 Lea-Francis Hyper, built at the company's Coventry plant, and loaned to the university from Coventry Transport Museum.
