Cars should be 'decarbonised' by 2050

Professor Julia King, vice chancellor of Aston University, is one of the UK's leading experts on reducing carbon dioxide emissions in road transport and the government has recently published the second part of the King Review on cutting vehicle pollution.

Part Two of the review makes policy recommendations aimed at encouraging government, industry and consumers to cut emissions from cars.

Professor King says cars should become decarbonised by 2050.

She thinks that goal can be realised partly through the use of new technology but that motorists can take practical measures today to improve the green performance of their car.
